  • Charming atmosphere, beautiful chandeliers and old stone walls covered with vintage black and white photos. The food was excellent, and our server was absolutely lovely. A bit pricey, but really a wonderful experience overall. One thing to note is the two-hour limit on dining, which is best to know about in advance. If you have a group that wants to reunite, two hours is kind of short, but that's the policy.

  • Order: Lemon veal, excellent minestrone soup, caramel cake, all fabulous!

  • La Vecchia Italian Ristorante

My boyfriend and I visted La Vecchia on September 25 at 6:00 pm. We ordered a bottle of red wine and order the grilled calamari appetizer, both were excellent. We placed our order for our entrees; I ordered the seafood risotto and my boyfriend order seafood linguine. When our order was brought to our table, the presentation was disappointing to start. They brought me a mushroom risotto which I did not order, however I did try it and it was very bland and flavourless. My boyfriend's dish was also a disappointment. The server came back to our table and I explained to her I was given the wrong dish and my boyfriends dish was tasteless. It was a can of tomatoes mixed with the pasta. The server apologized and took the dishes back to the kitchen. I explained to her that I love this restaurant and I frequent it often so I asked if it was a different cook in the kitchen and her response was yes. The new dishes were brought out to us. Now I didn't receive the risotto but rice with seafood, again tasteless and bland. My boyfriends dish they added garlic and butter huge disappointment. We were not happy. The owner of the restaurant brought out the box of risotto and told me this is what they use and it is the best risotto. That's fine but this is not risotto. Risotto is a creamy and my dish I could pick each kernel individually, therefore not risotto. In any event we received our bill with the full charge for the entrees which we did not eat. The Owner had no class and definitely no customer service skills. I was very disappointed with his actions dismissing my dissatisfaction after knowing I was a regular customer. La Vecchia will no longer be receiving my business.

  • Order: Appetizer grilled calamari - great!, Entrees; seafood linguine - horrible, seafood risotto - horrible

  • Tactful, polite, courteous service.

    Food - AMAZING.

Atmosphere - warm, inviting, cozy, nostalgic, beautiful, charming

Came here after we were treated like crap by the racist, obnoxious host at Grazies. La Vecchia not only appreciates your business but heightens your dining experiences with exquisite food and joyful service. It was extremely busy at La Vecchia and they still maintained such outstanding service. I look forward to going there again.

  • Went with my family and Mother for the Victoria Day Weekend. Was quite surprised how nice the place is. The entrance door is apparently imported from Italy and is about 400yr old! Great service, no one complained about the tip (we gave about 13%). All male waiters, very polite, attentive without being annoying. Fast service considering how busy they were. Parking is somewhat of a problem, but that's Toronto. Good food, well presented, would certainly return.

  • Order: Red Snapper; Veal, Tenderloin.

  • We went as a group of five. For most of us, this was our first time to this restaurant, and will most likely be our last. Overall the food was average, but the atmosphere pleasant. Unfortunately, the most memorable moment occurred with our payment of the bill.

As we prepared to leave our waiter said "Thanks for the bad tip". When confronted, he corrected us. He had actually said "Thanks for the tip"... but then added "I meant that sarcastically".

I retrospect, our tip was slightly on the low side at 12.5%, but given his attitude, this was probably more than he deserved.

We did speak to the manager about this, and he appeared equally disturbed by this rudeness.

  • Order: Sophia loren, Mina, Shiraz Runway Bay, bruschetta, calamari sophia, Pegallo/Red Snapper, Black angus special, Capellini sardi,

  • It's not often that my husband and I find a meal that leaves us saying, "wow, that...was...amazing". La Vecchia totally delivered on this.

It will be one of our top restaurants in Toronto and we will definitely be back. And soon.

The 'spicy sausage' was actually spicy (what a rarity) and must have been homemade. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly. A beautiful sear yet moist inside.

    Service was great.

  • Order: Carpaccio for appie. Veal tenderloin special (with asparagus, gravy, mashed) and Fettucini with spicy sausage.

  • I recently had occasion to visit this restaurant with a good friend of mine - we usually avoided it because we had heard it was expensive, but it wasn't too different from other comparable Italian restaurants. We are planning to return there soon.
I tried the Triangoli toto, which was triangular-shaped ravioli - it was great!

  • La Vecchia is special. The dining room is a warm, intimate space that is softly lit. The atmosphere is elegant but still relaxed and friendly. The staff is approachable, professional and unobtrusive. Yet, the best thing about La Vecchia is the food.
You'll find the menu is a balance between familiar favourites like "Pizza Margherita" and "Penne All'arrabiata" and more daring in house creations like "Risotto La Vecchia" which features Kiwi and Tiger Shrimp! The set multi-course menus offer patrons complete authentic Italian dining experiences at reasonable prices.
As I said, the best thing about La Vecchia is the food. If you are tired of pseudo-Italian and are looking for something authentic, the food at La Vecchia is as good as any that I've had in restaurants on my many trips back to Italy.
I can't recommend this restaurant strongly enough!

  • Order: I had the Calamari Sophia and a glass of Pinot Grigio. The Calamari were tender and cooked to perfection. They were served in a wonderful white wine sauce together will grilled oyster mushrooms. I also had a the pizza San Siro with tomato sauce, mozzarella, goat cheese, pesto, and sundried tomato. It was the best Pizza I've had outside Italy.
