  • We capped a great trip to Boston with dinner at Ye Olde Union Oyster House. Dinner was fine, and service was great, however as a seafood lover I must admit I expected a bit more being so close to the ocean. The real fun was closing the place at the oyster bar with 'Mike'. We'll be back.

  • Order: dinner, oysters, beer

  • To review a restaurant you've been visiting for upwards of three decades is, by nature, an odd thing, as only the rarest of places survive so long. Union Oyster House, the longest-running restaurant in the country, at times has been accused of being a "for the tourists" sort of place, longer on atmosphere than value, but since I've never failed to find the place full of seafood lovers, and in a city like Boston, ripe with choices by the hundreds and placed only a good hard sneeze away from the restaurants of the Italian North End, Union Oyster has to have been doing something right all these years to stay open. From the oyster bar on the ground floor, I had cold, freshly shucked Blue Point Oysters...(The cold and fresh part is particularly important for these...I've been to places where they forgot that fact and I've paid for it later). I followed that up with a New England Clam Chowder which was thick, (With clams and potatoes, and not just becuase the dairy in it was reduced. There's a difference, and you can taste it here.) Finishing off with the entree of lobster with linguini, the meal was prepared well, and enjoyed...One final note is for the beer drinker, especially fans of Boston's Sam Adams Brewery; as there is a special brew made only for the Oyster House, just as they make one for Gillette Stadium, a good, molasses-based brew. At the least, you can tell your buddies you've had something they can't get anywhere else.

  • For me being a tourist I enjoyed the food. I wanted to get a taste of Bostonian style food and I got it! Fresh seafood, Chow-da, etc :)

  • The food was delicious. We only ended up in there because it started to pour outside. The food was enjoyable but it was crowded since so many people were trying to get out of the rain. The servers were a little rude. While we were at the bar the bartender questioned me about my age although I didn't order anything and said he hoped I wouldn't be sneaking any drinks from the rest of my party. I know I look young, and I am of age, but just because I didn't order a drink doesn't mean I will sipping from others.

  • I have eaten lobster all over the place. I am absolutely picky about how my seafood is cooked. I want it perfect and when you're paying a premium price, I want it better than perfect. I ordered a big 3 lb. whole steamed lobster and it was beautifully done. I'm sure the sides were good, but I couldn't have cared less.
Unbelievably, for a place known for searood, my husband's steak was terrific! The ambiance, history, and oyster bar are awesome. We love visiting Boston and this is a definite stop.

  • Order: Whole Lobster, oyster appetizer, steak, potato, soup, salad

  • Place is bigger than I had thought after my last visit. There is another whole room after the oyster bar. And there is an upstairs! The view form the windows upstairs was very nice, although it was rainy. Service again was Awesome from Kelli. We were all impressed with the food (except for the overcooked clams).I stil say its too expensive for just a dinner out. Specials occasions, its great!

  • Order: We had lobster ravioli for an appetizer..very good..steamers were terrific. the fried clams were cooked waay too much, made them tough. Filet was tender and tasty and the seafood newberg was just to die for!! Very good.

  • A favorite place for tourists. Historic building, historic neighborhood, near Faneuil Hall. Kelli is the best waitress I have ever had in a Boston restaurant. Fish was great, maybe overpriced for lunch, but it is what it is. I will go back because of the waitresses.

  • Order: baked stuffed haddock and a chocolate martini
