  • Copy / Pasted from my Urban Spoon review - hope that's OK. I'm lazy, but the Raja's food is SO GOOD!

My wife and I have lived in the Scott Road area for almost three years now. Our ongoing search for the best Indian cuisine has already led us to find our favourite restaurants in both Richmond and Vancouver, places we have lived for years. Moving to Scott Road was exciting - there is more Indian food here on this one street than the rest of the Lower Mainland combined, I would reckon!

After almost three years of sampling everything the neighborhood has to offer, we can still find none that compare with the Raja. We order take out from here at least once a month and sometimes more! The food is incredible, the portions are satisfying, the spices are impeccable! There is something "extra" in this food that we can't find anywhere else... the chef is a true master here.

The Vegetable Pakora with red chutney is fantastic, the Samosas here are incredible also - especially when ordered "chana" style. As far as entree's go, we have never been wrong. The Butter Chicken is incredible, probably among the best we have ever had, anywhere. We also love and regularly order the Mutter Paneer, Aloo Gobhi, Palak Paneer and Channa Masala. The Raja makes an excellent Raita, cool and fresh, so don't be afraid to order your food "Medium" for that perfect amount of spice!

Of course, the rice, Naan, and our favourite, the whole-wheat Roti here are all excellent as well. Our only regret is that we love our above mentioned favourites so much, we have not tried everything on the menu yet!

We also make sure to order lots of food so we have plenty left over. The Raja's food keeps really well, and is as good or perhaps even better on the second day!

As I said before, we have tried the rest and we keep coming back to the best, the Raja. Long live the Raja - we will be back very soon!

  • Order: Butter Chicken, Channa Masala, Aloo Gobi, Mutter Paneer, Palak Paneer, Naan, Raita, Pakora, Samosa

  • The butter chicken is so great, no matter is with rice or naan. The palack(spinach) is good as well! For we dined in for lunch buffet, the naan was supplied just came out of stove so it was so hot, fresh, crispy, tender, and excellent smell. Then the naan makes all the dishes are even greater! It was our first visit to Raja so I misunderstood the waiter's question of "1 or 2 more pieces" as the quarter-size piece. It was 4 quarter-size as one piece. So both of us were so full but did not want to spoil the delicious food and the waiter's kindness. Each person costs only $9.99 buffet with such good quality of food, of course we surely will visit again and again....

  • Order: lunch buffet - butter chicken, palack(spinach), rice, channa masala, khari pakora, salad, chicken vindaloo, and naan
