  • Once a place with exiting and constantly changing menu items all year round, JAM'S BISTRO used to be a perfect lunch place in the neighborhood. Owners changed and the quality and service went down the drain. Not sure how this restaurant can survive since I rarely see any customers here any longer.

  • VERY SAD !
JAM'S Bistro is a perfect example for BAD OWNER CHANGE. This restaurant used to be a regular lunch place of mine. After owners have changed the restaurant went down the drain. Service is horrible and food does not even come close to what everyone was used to @ JAM'S Bisto.

Things have changed - certainly not for the better.

These folks don't even have their web page managed. Two different dates.

    What is the current menu?

As old as the dates is the food. Too bad for this location.

  • I used to be a regular customer here. However, I changed job and therefore haven't been here for a long time.

    Well, I got extremely disappointed.

The restaurant was sold and the current owners do not have an idea how to run a business or how to cook.
This restaurant used to be shiny and clean; now it's dirty. People who worked here used to be very friendly and polite. Nothing can be found any longer.

Very sad to see how a successful business can be run down by people.
This would no longer be my choice for breakfast or lunch.

  • I picked this restaurant since I am Vietnamese and learned that the restaurant a few weeks ago hired a new Chef who is Vietnamese. We did not get disappointed. We ordered BBQ Pork, Lemongrass Chicken and a Steak.
The delicious food was served to our table, what we did not expect in such a restaurant, which is located in an office park. The portions were very big and the food simply delicious. All this at prices like in China Town.
    Great restaurant!

  • Since we were in the area, we had again lunch at JAM'S Bistro. All of us agreed that day that the restaurant and it's staff exceeded all expectations. They have a new chef (Vietnamese fellow) and it showed in the menu. We ordered Vietnamese Lemon Grass chicken at a bargain price of $6.99, a Pork Shoulder Blade Steak for $ 7.75, which was bigger than my plate and Wild Pacific Salmon Fillet over a bed of Organic Greens for $ 7.25.
Every dish was delicious. Even food presentation was professionally done and all food was served, something you would not expect in a restaurant like this. Congratulations JAM'S - food was always good here, however, this was by far our very best lunch here. Keep it up.

  • The best thing they serve are their grilled panini sandwiches. In particular, though I think this is no secret, the chicken and turkey panini are amazing.

I also quite like their daily specials they prepare from scratch (the main reason that JAM'S has so many regulars) every day and the Turkey Cranberry sandwich, which is like the panini made with real oven roasted turkey.
Only downside is that their good stuff is usually gone by 1.15 pm, so try and get there early.

We also celebrated a birthday party at JAM’s last year on a weekend and enjoyed great service and food. We had ordered BBQ and Indian dishes and the owners brought in a well known Chef and she prepared authentic Indian food .

For a restaurant of this kind, located in an office park, JAM'S is one of a kind. Clean and modern. However, I can't give 5 stars for atmosphere, due to the nature of the business.

  • I have been going to this deli for 2.5 years now, about twice a week. Its a great place to get away from the office especially during the summer on their sunny patio. I like the fact that the owners make a point to remember everyones name and their usuals. Their set menu consists mainly of sandwiches, paninis, and burgers. They also try to keep their menus interesting by having 3 specials that are continuously changing. They vary from asian to european plates with soup all for less than 8 bucks. The portions are huge. I even complained last year that they should reduce the size of their portions which they promptly refused. This place is definately a classy lunch time diner that I regularly bring my collegues and out of town business guests to.

  • Order: Great Tuna sandwich most days unless the Chili con Carne is on the menu. Their chili con carne with perogees is unbelievable!

  • I noticed a couple of month ago that someone started posting ugly anti-construction worker comments here on restaurantica which put JAM'S alwasy in the headlines.
My husband operates a drywall business and I would not know of any legitimate reason why a guy in the construction business is getting labeled here person 2nd class. Only imbecile people could come up with something like this.
Anyhow, in general, I could not care less for a restaurant far away from my office like JAM'S Bistro. It's totally off our regular walking distance. However, I was interested to see what kind of people work there who would put up such comments. I invited my team to check out this place. It took us 15 minutes to get there from Kingsway and even worse, we missed it twice since the building is hidden behind trees.

We placed our orders, paid and went for a table (the same we do at Vera's Burger, Memphis Grill, Urban Burger and other restaurants) on the patio since it was a sunny day.

    We ordered:

    1) Fish & Chips - $6.50 - 3 pcs of fish and a huge portion of fries
    2) Pork Shoulder Blade Steak with French Fries and Salad- $7 - the steak was actually bigger than the plate
    3) Smoked Salmon on Cream Cheese Bagel with salad and soup - $7.50
    4) Chicken Panini - $5.95 - two times bigger than at Provence in Kits where I pay almost three times the price

Together with our sodas we paid a total of $30.70 which equals to $7.68 / person. We took fries and half of the steak home. The food was very good and everybody liked it. The portions were too big for us.

All orders were served to the table. With the first orders we received a pitcher with ice water and glasses which we didn't spot inside. After we finished our lunch we received a free desert. Bread Pudding with walnuts and raisins, topped with strawberry jam which was delicious. Not sure if they do this every Friday or only for new clients.

We did not spot construction workers at all, however, we learned first hand that nothing was real what is mentioned in earlier posting here on restaurantica. Too bad that JAM's is too far away for us to go here more often.

  • Delicious food in a trendy atmosphere

On our way to Burnaby hospital we were looking for a lunch place. It seemed odd to find this restaurant nestled in this part of Burnaby.
With it’s huge inviting patio, stainless steel kitchen set up, trendy colors it looked like it belonged to a different part of town instead.
In addition to the tables there was a comfortable sofa as waiting area for the folks ordering take out.
We went around 1 PM on a Friday and the place was absolutely packed. We moved a table from the inside to the patio and enjoyed a great lunch.
I ordered a Chef Salad ($7.50 only) which was served with an orange juice (bottle) and it was fantastic! This was one of the specials that day.
My wife ordered a Chili Cheese Burger ($7 only) Portions were huge and compared to the price an absolute bargain. We even took two Turkey with Cranberry Sandwiches home and were very surprised when we discovered that it was real turkey and not deli meat.
Even you might expect just a kind of cafeteria style in an office building, you actually get a number which you take with you to your table and staff serves the food. Cutlery, napkins and condiments are available close to the cash register where you pay when ordering your food.

The total lunch cost for both of us came in at $14.50. I would definitely go back again.

  • Jam's is the place to eat the most NOTHING sandwich! All the food there really tastes BLAH. Even if you buy a cheap sandwich from Costco, it tastes much better than this place.
The menu is just a joke! It seems they try to put the cheapest ingredients possible in all of their food. There is sandwich with sauce, bread with cheese ONLY. You don’t need to come here to eat this food like this, a 5 grader can also make this stuff.

The only good thing of this hole in the wall is maybe the summer you can sit outside. But, hello, don’t forget, we are here to eat, not to visit the street. We are smart customers, we can’t be tricked to give you a good rating just because..
